Getting To Know You
If you are interested in working for Brainstorm Creative Resources, we ask that you download and complete the one-page questionnaire labeled “Tell Us About Yourself” in our Download Center. Please e-mail the completed questionnaire to talent@brainstormresources.com, along with your resume and at least three samples of relevant work you completed during the last two years. We will respond within 36 hours.
The Interview Process
Our in-person interviews usually last about two hours. We will talk about your academic history and past work experiences and journey together into the future, as we discuss opportunities for professional growth that might be available to you. If you have most often worked in a hands-on writing, editing, design or production position, we will review your portfolio and ask you to demonstrate your skills by completing a computer-based evaluation. We ask that all candidates come prepared to recommend three professional references.
On-Site v. Off-Site
On-site or off-site: The choice is yours. Some of our clients require that all assignments be completed on-site, while others understand that many freelance professionals prefer to complete assignments at their own studios. Let us know where you prefer to work; we will do our best to match you with opportunities that fit your needs.
Pay Rates
We talk with employers and freelance professionals every day, so we are familiar with the range of rates being billed for freelance services in the region. If you share your rate schedule with us, we will try to identify assignments that meet your fiscal requirements.
Getting Paid
Brainstorm Creative Resources pays on-site freelance professionals each week for work performed during the previous week. At the end of each week, you will present a completed timesheet to your supervisor and request his or her signature. The signed timesheet authorizes Brainstorm Creative Resources to pay you for services rendered. Provided you fax your timesheet to us by 11am on the Monday following each week you work, your check will be included in that week’s payroll. We also offer flexible billing and payment terms for freelance professionals who work for Brainstorm Creative Resources clients from off-site locations. If you plan to work for a Brainstorm Creative Resources client from your studio, we ask that you provide an estimate in advance of the project start-date, for the total cost of project. Your estimate should include the expected number of hours you plan to contribute to the project, along with hourly bill rates for the services you will provide and an overview of costs you will pass on to clients for products or services you may purchase on their behalf. Please indicate in your estimate whether you want to be paid upon project completion or per successful reaching up to three project milestones.
Our payment and billing processes are independent. Payments to freelance professionals are not dependant upon our clients meeting their fiscal obligations.
Temporary-To-Permanent Transitions
We know that if we do our jobs well, you are going to enjoy the assignments you find through Brainstorm Creative Resources. If you become interested in working in a full-time capacity at the company we have assigned you to, please let us know. We will discreetly talk with the person who is supervising your activities about the possibility of your joining his or her team. If the feeling is mutual, we will play an active role in helping you transition into your new full-time position.
